The city of Nilfgaard, known as the City of the Golden Tower, is the capital of the Nilfgaardian Empire which eventually grew to conquer all foreign lands south of the Yaruga. The city itself is located on the Alba. Citizens of the city tend to consider the Nilfgaardian Empire as defined only by the inhabitants of the capital and surrounding lands, and certainly not by the inhabitants of the "lesser" areas.

Maecht

Maecht is one of the kingdoms and a province in the Nilfgaardian Empire. To the north, it shares a natural border with Metinna, the Sylte. Eastward lies Geso and to the south is Ebbing. Its coat of arms is a silver fish on a field of crowns. A pretense of autonomy is kept in Maecht with a king who appears to have been freely chosen, but the reality is that he is a puppet who obeys the will of the Nilgaardian emperor.

Ebbing is one of the four largest provinces in the Nilfgaardian Empire. Located in the south of the empire, bordering the Great Sea in the west and Maecht and the Korath desert in the east.

Nazair

Nazair is situated just south of the Amell Mountains, through which the Slopes and Riverdell can be reached via the Theodula Pass. North of Nazair lie Cintra and Upper Sodden. To the east is Mag Turga. The river Yelena borders the province to the south, and beyond it is Metinna. The Great Sea flanks it to the west.

Toussaint is a duchy within Nilfgaard famous for its wines, enabled by the volcanic soil. This mountainous place is ruled by Anna Henrietta. Toussaint has no army of its own, nor a police force, just a small number of knights-errant watching the borders and roads, though their attention is said to be keen. Tradition is a holy thing in Toussaint, so all holidays are keenly observed.
Interestingly, the Nilfgaardian Empire does not tend to impose itself in the affairs of Toussaint and for the most part does not violate its borders.

Metinna is one of the four largest provinces in the Nilfgaardian Empire. Because of its size, it enjoys relative autonomy. Located in the middle of the empire, it is bordered by the Great Sea in the west, Geso, to the east, the province of Nazair to the north and Maecht to the south. The region, one third of which is comprised of the plains of Mag Deira, is bounded to the north by the Yelena and to the south by the Sylte river.
